The Department of Applied Materials Engineering aims to educate and train advanced technical professionals who will play a pivotal role in industrial society in the field of metals, which is the foundation of the heavy chemical industry. The department focuses on the fields related to advanced functional materials such as metal smelting, metal materials, metal processing, aircraft, semiconductor materials, energy materials, and biological materials, and combines academic theories and experiments to produce engineers who can contribute to the industrial field and research institutions.
The most basic and essential field for securing national competitiveness in the high-tech era of the 21st century is arguably the field of new and advanced materials, and this is why the study of new and advanced materials is considered to be a very promising. Applied materials engineering majors can enter the fields of existing structural materials and advanced new materials related to metals, semiconductors, ceramics, polymers, and composite materials as well as the field of components and systems in the IT industry.
