Department Overview and Objectives

The Architecture Major established in 2003 has been focusing on architectural design since January 2010, and has been at the forefront of architectural education in the Daejeon and Chungnam regions, producing architects with advanced knowledge and skills. We will continue to provide academic opportunities for those wishing to further hone their capabilities in the field of architectural design.

We aim to satisfy the intellectual curiosity of each student by offering majors in architectural planning, design, history, theory, criticism, environment, digital, practice, technology, and urban design. We also strive to develop new architectural design technologies and pursue community development through research activities with students and industry-academia collaboration with related fields.

Focuses of Education and Research

To foster creative professionals with expertise in architecture and specialized design capabilities.

  • In line with the trend of globalization in the 21st century, we pursue in-depth education and research to produce professional technical professionals in the field of architectural design.
  • Providing an internationally accredited education in architecture, we foster architects with global competence with knowledge of diverse architectural cultures and the latest international design methods.
  • We aim to cultivate honesty, diligence, humility, and conscientiousness in our students so that they strive to give back to society with the expertise they have gained in the field of architecture.

Applications and Related Industries

Graduates can pursue careers in architectural design firms, interior design firms, design departments of construction companies, public works in architecture-related fields, and the government as civil servants.

The Nature of the Discipline and Its Prospects

Recently, the International Union of Architects (UIA) has restricted the qualifications of technical professionals in architectural design to those who have completed at least five years of architectural design-oriented education. Accordingly, we provide higher education to students and architects who have completed four years of architectural engineering-oriented education and nurture them into internationally competitive and qualified professionals.
