Department Overview

The Department of Electronic Engineering actively conducts research in the fields of semiconductors, LCD and display, communication and signal processing, ultra-high frequency circuit design, wired and wireless communication systems, electronic control, image processing, very-large-scale integration (VLSI), power electronics, and power IT, which are fundamental to the rapid information age and technology-intensive industrialization. We also strive to foster creative and future-oriented professionals with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in relevant fields.

Objectives

The objective of our department is to cultivate knowledge and research capabilities in the field of electronics in a knowledge-based society, thereby fostering scientists and engineers with highly specialized knowledge and practical skills and contributing to academic advancement and national industrial development in related fields.

Focuses of Education and Research

Our department conducts academic research in various areas of electronic engineering, including semiconductors, integrated circuits, displays, flexible devices, communications, signal processing, high-frequency circuit design, telecommunications, control engineering, embedded systems, and smart grids. The full-time faculty members of the department are engaged in various national and corporate projects as well as collaborative research with Seoul National University (SNU), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Yonsei University, Korea University, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), and other excellent organizations. In addition, the scope of such collaborative research extends beyond Korea in close partnership with overseas institutions such as the University of Tokyo, Georgia Tech, University of Texas, Austin, and Case Western Reserve University. The Department of Electronic Engineering is continually diversifying its research fields and partnering up with an increasing number of institutions for joint research.

Graduates of the Department of Electronics Engineering are employed in a wide range of positions in universities, government agencies, research institutes, and companies related to the electronics industry. Some of the major employers include Samsung Electronics, Hynix Semiconductor, and LG Electronics.
