Urban engineering is the study of the overall system that moves and drives society. Urban environments will display increasing complexity in the future due to economic growth, social diversification, and technological advancement. As a result, demand for urban engineers will rise, and they will be presented with various career opportunities (public institutions, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Korea Expressway Corporation, urban and transportation engineering agencies/companies, design planning firms, planning department of private companies, public spatial planning fields, and research institutes in related fields).
The Department of Urban Engineering is characterized by the fact that it not only trains experts in the fields of urban planning, design, transportation, and environment, but also equips students the ability to logically analyze and rationally plan urban spaces and urban residents’ activities based on technologies that integrated the three areas as well as smart technologies. In the future, the Department of Urban Engineering will offer curricula that consider these aspects in an integrated manner to progressively advance as a leading department in the field of urban and regional planning.
