The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering aims to cultivate advanced manpower for chemical engineering and biological engineering in strategic industries and new growth engine industries.
Chemical and biological engineering is a multidisciplinary field that pursues the integration and application of chemical process technology, IT (information technology), NT (nanotechnology), BT (biotechnology), and ET (environmental/energy technology), which are the key technologies of the future.
Related industries include Korea’s key industries including petrochemicals, fine chemicals, plastics, textiles, rubber, paper, fertilizer, and cement; high-tech industries such as polymers, electronic materials, new materials, and semiconductors; as well as the fields of biotechnology, alternative energy, environmental pollution prevention technology, and process automation. Graduates from the department are pursuing careers at research institutes and government agencies as well as the private sector.
