Objectives

Visual communication design is a study of comprehensive issues related to social communication of a public nature as well as all visual communication media such as packaging design, advertising design, editorial design, interactive design, video, and animation. Students in this department acquire a theoretical system for rational design and apply design methods and processes. The department aims to foster designers required by the modern knowledge and information society through the development of creative abilities with various types of practical training.

Goals

  • Learn basic theories, gain knowledge related to visual and image design, be able to analyze and review all elemental tools for design objects, and develop comprehensive judgment skills to design rationally
  • Develop creative thinking skills to generate and develop ideas and acquire various expression skills in the field of design, which can be utilized in practice
  • Develop an understanding of various media and the ability to utilize new materials to express design ideas visually

Teaching Courses

The teaching courses cultivate an understanding and skills of pedagogy necessary to teach in the field of design. Students get to develop their knowledge and abilities to teach through coursework on colors and hues, design education, textbook research, curriculum logic, and essays.

Possible Careers After Graduation

After graduating from this major, you can find work as an artist doing corporate advertising design, packaging design, editorial design, web design, interaction design, video visual effects, 3D animation, etc. or as a designer at an advertising company or design agency. You can also go on to graduate school or study abroad. As the role of design is becoming more important in the face of unlimited competition in the business world, the career paths for designers will become even broader in the future.
