Introduction

Nomad College HANBAT NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

HBNU Nomad College is dedicated to liberal arts education and multidisciplinary education. The education provided at Nomad College goes beyond searching for truth through binary lenses that’s common in the rationality-driven era of the modern times and seeks to honor diversity, embrace differences, and think freely across boundaries.

The groundbreaking advances in science and technology are adding greater complexity to modern society, and in an ultra-advanced future society, humanity will need to be able to understand and creatively interpret the world through wisdom that transcends disciplinary boundaries.

To cultivate these capabilities, Nomad College will provide interdisciplinary liberal arts education and multidisciplinary education of the highest standards.

Objectives of Liberal Arts Education

The objectives of providing liberal arts education are to:

  1. cultivate integrated, interdisciplinary knowledge
  2. build students’ capacity to proactively deal with changes in society
  3. foster talents with skills and character

Goals of Liberal Arts Education

In order to realize its purpose, liberal arts education should be designed to help students achieve the following objectives:

  • foster good character and citizenship to live as a moral member of society
  • develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills to become creative intellectuals
  • gain future insight and communication and leadership skills to serve as a global citizen with an enterprising spirit

Core Competencies (Core Values)

Liberal arts education is designed to fulfill the following core competencies desired by HBNU:

  1. Character and ethics : The ability to serve society with honesty and sincerity based on strong morality and sense of responsibility as a democratic citizen and to determine one’s own identity and pursue personal development
  2. Communication : The ability to express one’s thoughts and opinions accurately and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to think positively, and to communicate with others by listening to them and showing empathy
  3. Practical expertise : The ability to apply field-oriented practical and professional knowledge to various fields based on the ability to collect, analyze, and utilize technical information resources
  4. Problem-solving : The ability to clearly recognize problems and propose and pursue creative solutions based on multidisciplinary knowledge and critical and logical thinking
  5. Global competence : The ability to communicate and adapt as a member of the international community by taking interest in global issues and trends, respecting and understanding the cultures of other countries, and adhering to global principles and norms
  6. Leadership : The ability to take on challenges with innovative thinking and an understanding and respect for others, and lead change to achieve the vision and goals of the community/organization
