The Fourth Industrial Revolution is bringing a huge wave of change to universities, with digital transformation requiring interdisciplinary education and the application of new teaching and learning methods. In this revolutionary area, fostering human resources capable of taking interdisciplinary approaches (convergence) for digital transformation is crucial.
The Department of Industry-University Convergence was established in the College of Engineering in February 2021 to foster field-oriented talents with creative problem-solving skills and digital technology skills to prepare for the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The main learning objective for the students is to understand the latest trends in digital transformation and innovation technologies and to develop the ability to discover and solve various problems from a new perspective outside the conventional framework. We promote problem-based learning by allowing students to directly experience developing new products using digital innovation technologies such as 3D modeling, 3D printing, and big data.
The department aims to enhance students’ digital technology capabilities in connection with the local community, companies, research institutes, and public institutions, and contribute to fostering business-friendly talents through problem-solving classes.
In order to respond to the rapid changes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the department strives to foster talents for digital transformation and convergence who can create and deliver new value through new product development, commercialization of technology, and solutions to address challenges faced by enterprises using digital-based technologies (3D CAD, 3D printing, etc.).
