Since its establishment in 1927, Hanbat National University (HBNU) has undergone many changes and advances based on its engineering programs. The College of Information Technology was launched on March 1, 2012 during the university’s transition from an industrial college to a general university.
Since most of the future growth engine industries of Korea and the key industries forming the backbone the Chungcheong region are directly or indirectly related to new information technology (new IT), the College of Information Technology aims to cultivate professional talents in the field of new IT who will lead the future of our nation and region in the 21st century knowledge-based information society.
To this end, the College of Information Technology is making a concerted effort to develop competitive and future-oriented new IT-related departments (Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Control Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering, and Computer Engineering). It is also recognized as a cradle of human resources recognized by domestic and international science and technology circles and industrial sites, graduating about 150 engineering students every year.
The College of Information Technology at Hanbat National University has successfully completed or is currently implementing numerous national projects and programs, including the Brain Korea 21 (BK21) Project, Nuri Project, Basic Human Resources Training Project for the Power Industry, Seoul Accord Project, Industry-University Cooperation Center Project, and Engineering Education Innovation Center Project, providing students with all kinds of learning opportunities. Through these projects and programs, students get to develop their creativity and application skills and grow as engineers meeting global standards. As a result, the employment rate of graduates is significantly increased. The College of Information Technology is playing a key role in national industrial development and research and development of advanced science and technology.
In order to spearhead change as a leader in related fields, the College of Information Technology is striving to build advanced infrastructure for research and education by operating the Korean Engineering Education Certification Program (KEC 2005), which complies with international engineering education standards. It is developing and implementing strategies so that in the near future it can become one of the leading information technology colleges in Korea and stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best universities around the world.
