The College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Hanbat National University trains students into professionals who can sculpt and refine the earth, plan and design excellent places to live, create happy homes, nurture and heal the environment, and present beautiful designs.
The College of Architecture and Environmental Design is the only convergence university program in Korea that consists of hardware (civil, environmental and architectural engineering), software (architecture, design) and linkware (urban engineering). It is composed of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (merged with the Department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering in 2012), Department of Architectural Engineering, Department of Architecture (5-year program), Department of Urban Engineering, Department of Visual Communication Design, and Department of Industrial Design. Graduates from the department are pursuing careers are engineers, architects, technologists, designers, public servants, researchers, educators, politicians, and so on. As such, we are serving as a cradle of excellent human resources who play a pivotal role in the domestic and international scientific and technological communities, industrial sites, and the public sector.
In particular, as the survival of humanity is seriously threatened by global climate change and environmental crisis, we are operating a specialized curriculum to create, manage, and regenerate sustainable and smart human settlement conditions and social infrastructure, and to create beautiful designs that people see and enjoy in their lives. We are expanding Lab Schooling, where classes take place in laboratories and on industrial sites, as well as Design+FM that fosters creative global first movers and various convergence majors.
In addition, to foster global competence in our students and facilitate overseas employment, we have established the Overseas Construction and Management Course and signed MOUs with educational institutions. We also operate international student exchange program, international cooperation program, and international joint capstone design exchange program. In order to develop into a world-class college, we have joined the ABEEK-accredited programs (KEC 2005) and the KAAB-accredited programs (KAAB, 2009), which comply with international engineering education standards, and are striving to build advanced infrastructure for research and education.
