□ Hanbat National University (President Oh Yong-jun) announced that graduate student Evans Tetteh Owusu (advised by Professor Noh Go-san) of the Department of Electronic Engineering won the Best Paper Award at the '2026 IEEE VTS Asia Pacific Wireless Communications Symposium (APWCS 2026)' held in Seoul from the 12th to the 14th.

 ○ IEEE VTS APWCS is an international conference co hosted by the Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, and Singapore chapters of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS), serving as a venue where researchers in the Asia Pacific region share the latest research achievements in wireless communications and information and communication technology (ICT).

□ This award winning paper, titled 'BSB Enabled Routing for Deep Space DTNs: Congestion Awareness in Bandwidth Limited Environments', proposed technology to effectively resolve network congestion problems occurring in deep space communication environments with high communication delays and intermittent connectivity.

 ○ The research team designed a Buffer Status Block (BSB) that can directly share the data storage congestion status of each node during the communication process in Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN), and combined it with routing technology based on deep reinforcement learning to autonomously select more efficient data delivery paths according to network congestion conditions.

 ○ As a result of the experiment, the proposed technology was shown to maintain stable data transmission performance while reducing buffer usage and end to end transmission delay compared to conventional routing techniques, and also verified practical feasibility by implementing the technology in the ION DTN environment utilized in actual interplanetary network research.

 ○ This achievement is even more meaningful in that a graduate student supported by the 'Core Technology Research and Glocal Talent Fostering for 6G Wireless Communication Standardization' project under the University ICT Research Center (ITRC) and the 'ICT Core Talent Fostering Project Linked Between Bachelor and Master Degrees ICT Innovative Talent 4.0' being conducted by Hanbat National University produced international academic results.

□ Hanbat National University 6G Wireless Communication Glocal Research Center Director Noh Go-san (Professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering) said, "This award is an achievement where research led by a student was recognized for its excellence on the international academic stage," adding, "We will continue to support students to grow into global research talents by participating in 6G core technology research, international joint research, and international standardization activities.“

 ○ Professor Jeong Young-bae of the Department of Electronic Engineering, principal investigator of the ICT Innovative Talent 4.0 project, stated, "We are supporting students to build professional research capabilities early by linking undergraduate and graduate education and research," adding, "We will continue to create cases where students' research experiences lead to international academic achievements like this award.“

□ Meanwhile, Hanbat National University plans to continuously foster master and doctorate level professionals equipped with international research and standardization capabilities in next generation ICT and 6G fields by linking the ICT Innovative Talent 4.0 and University ICT Research Center (ITRC) projects going forward.
