Let Me Introduce HBNU Dormitory

By Lee Sun-min Cub Reporter, Junior of Department of Computer Engineering

Information about the HBNU dormitory is essential for students who have difficulty living alone or commuting to school. You can obtain some basic, necessary information by referring to the dorm website. However, I would like to introduce the basic facilities of the dormitory, the characteristics of each building, and I would also like to share some tips that I have learned while actually using the place.

| Facility Introduction

-Location

The dormitory is located about 900 m away from the front gate of the school, toward the HBNU office of international affairs (S0), and is close to the ROTC building (S11). Starting with the Doksuri building, the dormitory consists of seven buildings in total, including Hanbat, and the BTL (Build-Transfer-Lease) hall. Doksuri-dong operates as the main center, with a dining room, RC center (study room), and a gym. Seongsil-dong, and Inhwa-dong are both part of the Hanbat dormitory, and the BTL dormitories are within the first and third buildings: Mongnyeonhwa-dong and Sonamu-dong are in the 1st building, and Mirae-dong and Injae-dong are in the 3rd.

-Features

The difference between the Hanbat-hall and the BTL hall is the structure of the rooms. The Hanbat-hall is an apartment-type dormitory, with four students assigned to each room, using one room alone and sharing a large living room space. They also have to share a toilet and shower booth together. On the other hand, the BTL hall is a hallway-type dormitory for both the first and third buildings, with double rooms and single rooms.

-Facilities

The 1st BTL hall has a cafeteria, a convenience store, a study room, a laundry room, an RC center, and a gym. The cafeteria, gym, and RC center are separately located in Doksuri-dong. The 3rd BTL hall has a café, a community room, a lecture room, a lounge, a reading room, a laundry room, and a communal kitchen. Starting from the second semester of 2022, refrigerators, water purifiers, and microwave ovens are being newly installed on all floors of every building. The cafés and a gym are located on the first floor of Mirae-dong and anyone can use them. In addition, the laundry room is located on the first floor of each building, and washing machines and dryers can be used, with a special card, incurring a charge of 1,000 won for each session. The card is useable in all laundry rooms.

| Tips for dormitory life

-How to use a Dormitory

Now that I have learned about the dormitory facilities, I would like to briefly introduce some tips about living in a dormitory.

When entering the student dormitory, you will receive an access card key. This is essential when entering the building, especially when passing through the front door on the first floor, so you should never lose it.

Under the guidance of the manager, a curfew is regularly held once a month, so you should check the notices posted on the bulletin board on the first floor of each building in advance. Dormitory users must participate, and if they cannot make it, they must notify the head in advance. The purpose of the curfew is to check the ID cards, inspect prohibited items, and deliver important notices.

You can also use parcel services. The Hanbat-hall users can receive their parcels from Seongsil-dong, the first BTL hall users, from Mongnyeonhwa-dong, and the third BTL hall users, from Mirae-dong.

-How to use the Cafeteria

Lastly, I would like to show you how to use the dormitory cafeteria. It might be complicated for those who are using it for the first time, so please refer to the following orders.

Those who use the dormitory cafeteria for the first time need to register a password, and blood vessel (biological information of blood vessels on the back of the hand). It is really simple because you just need to follow what the administrator asks you to do. You have to use the registered password every mealtime in the cafeteria, until graduation, so be careful not to forget it. Of course, even if you forget your password, you will still be able to find it again. In addition, the menu is posted, along with available times, on the dormitory website or the “Everytime” app in the Today’s school cafeteria menu section.

If you are planning for your next semester, why don’t you consider using HBNU’s dormitory?
